The Fratellis @ First Avenue 9/11/08
The best band in Scotland at the moment, The Fratellis put on quite the show. A nearly sold out show, first avenue was packed with another great show as usual. This was the second time seeing the Scots, and they reminded me even more of Oasis this time around. The Rock N Roll Star and I were sold on The Fratellis playing a Arctic Monkeys cover "When the Sun Comes Down" or "Leave When The Lights Come Down" but it just turned out to be one of their own. Believe me those comparisons are compliments. The Fratellis added a fourth member to the band for their live show and the keys definitely made an impact. The Fratellis were playing in support of their sophomore album "Here We Stand", released back in June. Another Brilliant album just like "Costello Music".
Everyone was on their feet, jumping and flailing their arms to Chelsea Dagger, and Babi Fratelli was the finishing touch. Unlike the Arctic Monkeys these guys actually played an Encore. Still love the Monkeys, but the Fratellis are climbing up to the top.

the newest Fratellis album is absolutely horrendous, sad because the first was great.
as for the best band in Scotland, not even close... last i checked, Idlewild are still from there
but the best new Scottish band is easly Glasvegas, maybe the best UK band even
Live reviews I've seen on Glasvegas are
a mixed bag, they are certainly not the best live band today from Scotland. Their appearance on Jools Holland a little while back was pretty good though, check them out on Youtube.

Idlewild are an amazing band, especially live
100 Broken Windows is still one of the top albums of the 00's
and i never said Glasvegas were the best LIVE band, just on record
best UK live band at the moment would have to be Fanfarlo
Idlewild are very good live and on records, Roddy is a great front man.
They are going to being playing live all their albums releases one by one for five days Dec 17th through Dec 21st in Glasgow.
Isn't Franz Ferdinand a pretty good live Scottish band?

Franz are a good live band, but i think they may have been a one album wonder, i guess we'll see...
as for Fratellis, i do enjoy the first record, even if it was a guilty pleasure, but have to agree about the second one, it was very very lacking. still a great live band tho.
oh, and Glasvegas are quite good too, but like Craig i'm not sure how great they are live... have seen some good live videos, and some average stuff.
their sound is totally classic tho
