Two must see performances this weekend starting out with a bombshell from canada. Emily Haines helps out in Broken Social Scene one of the biggest college radio bands, is the lead singer of the very popular Metric band, and now has her very own solo album. This does remind me of Cat Power a bit like the Pioneer Press commennted on, but their is more volume and more life to Emily. Will have to wait and see how her vocals and performance is without a band in the background.. It will put her to test and may find the best route for her to take as a solo artist???

Varttina comes from Finland and are releasing their 10th studio album.. This native band has quite the history and tradition, I think you get that when you've been around for 20 years.. They have replaced many memebers over the years but continue their rich tradition of younger female vocalists and a enormously large group of members.

Emily is touring with a band, The Soft Skeleton (like the title of her solo record).
have heard pretty so-so things about her shows so far on the tour, guess we'll see.
Varttina is one of the better live bands on the planet, have seen them before at Nordic Roots Festival.
ok, she's pretty hot.
