Amy Macdonald stops in New York's Mercury Lounge.
Amy will be making her first appearance this year in the states.. She is blowing up all across the U.K. and comes from the big city of Glasgow. With a bit of Dolores O'Riordan(Cranberries) in her voice, Amy also adds a folky twist to her lovely songs. The most shocking part of Macdonald's success is that she's only 21. Ranging her musical talents on Piano and Guitar she looks like quite the veteran out there. 6 of her 12 major European Dates are already sold out. Lets hope a full U.S. tour is nearing, but pray she doesn't tour with her childhood favorites Elton John.
Here are Macdonald's only two U.S. shows so far set this year..
Apr 28th 2008 8pm Great Scott Allston, MA, USA
Apr 29th 2008 8pm Mercury Lounge New York, NY, USA

Her single "Poison Prince" is going to be re-released soon in the UK, supposed to have been written with Babyshambles Pete Doherty in mind.
Her voice and style reminds me of the 70's English folk rocker Sandy Denny, one of the highest compliments I can give.
