Newton Faulkner Has a Few Laughs in Minneapolis..
All by himself up on stage Newton Faulkner finds a way to make all sorts of sounds with his guitar. Faulkner is now 23 and comes from Surrey, England. Supposedly he's had the dreadlocks since 14. I would definitely call him a storyteller, describing many of his experiences with covers. He never really knew any covers and certainly didn't play any covers before he struck into media world, where he was forced to play his hit song along with a cover for every appearance he made. My favorite bit was when he asked a radio station if he could play a Kings of Leon version of Dream Catch Me. Of course Faulkner gave us a preview, I got a kick out of that. Now Newton has two famous covers that he performs during most sets in, Bohemian Rhapsody(Queen) and Teardrop(Massive Attack). I give his performance 2 thumbs up and enjoyed that he got crowd participation and played in the middle of the crowd. My guess is he'll be on tour with Dave Matthews or Jack Johnson very soon.
Newton's first full length album is due out in the U.S. next Tuesday, April 29th.
