The Rakes coming to the Varsity July 11th!!!!!

My uncle craig's dream has come true, his favorite u.k. band at the moment is coming to the best theater in the states. These guys have collaborated with maximo park, bloc party, and many more high energy english bands. Their new album capurture/release has done great in the u.k with their hit single retreat. My favorite is easily animals. The comparisons can be made to the stokes, but these guys are just another great u.k. band with stellar guitar rifs and classic british vocals. So far the varsity has realed in the subways, the rakes, and the futureheads. Who's next kasabian, razorlight, nine black alps, the cribs??? I sure hope so. Well anyways I think this news is huge and I sure hope they draw a crowd. If it's a packed house they will spread good word on minneapolis to all the other u.k. bands. I hope they bring another british band along with. Check out their myspace page here. Stay at the, "Top of the Pops", says Art Brut. -Brody

Imogen Heap Live at the Varsity Theater...

With very high expectations after a unbelievable late night act on letterman, Imogen came through in the clutch. She exploited all her talent tonight. Seeing her live, let me see her range, tone, humor, variety, and pretty much everything top of the line artists do best. Her unique style and creative gestures brought a smile to everyones face. Another great show at the varsity and again another sold out show. I was able to talk to talk to her briefly about filming in tanzinia for a 12 month stretch. Gearing up for another 8 months of touring in europe and back in the U.S. in novemeber. Imogen is planning to start a film career with her pure vocals, comedy, and of course her 6 foot frame. Anything this woman does will be great, lets just hope she keeps writing music and performing in minneapolis. Buy her album and enjoy. Catch a video I took at the show here. To all the music buff's will see you at the charlatans gig and possibly the international noise conspiracy. Later alligators. -The King
