Glasvegas at SXSW 2009

Glasvegas @ SXSW 2009 from Brody McCoy on Vimeo.

Catching them at Vice was unbelievable Wednesday night. Hands down one of the top 3 bands at SXSW. I showed up at the big Scottish showcase at La Zona Rosa but left early on Friday. I wish i would of stayed for that whole bill. We Promised Jet Packs, Camera Obscura, Proclaimers, Primal Scream, and of course Glasvegas. It may have been the best showcase at south-by. Glasvegas already has that arena band sound when they hit the stage live. I felt on top of the world when their big single "Geraldine" started. Favorite track i jumped around on was "Go Square Go".

To all you Minneapolis folks, be sure to catch these guys perform at the Varsity Theater April 7th!

Glasvegas Vinyl Giveaway!!!!

Outlook-161TxE0cCEHL._SS500_
Glasvegas, who've been proclaimed as "The Best New Band in Britain" by the NME and debuted on the UK charts in the # 2 spot it's first week, will digitally release their self-titled, debut album tomorrow, Oct. 7th, 2008, with a physical release to follow on January 6th, 2009 after finishing a string of well-received US tour dates this past week.

Glasvegas, who formed in Scotland in early 2006, caught the attention of British music mogul and tastemaker Alan McGee, who heralded Glasvegas as "The most exciting thing I've heard since Jesus and Mary Chain," while playing a gig at Glasgow's mythic King Tut's Wah Wah Hut (a 300 capacity hall renowned throughout the UK as a new talent showcase and prescient host to shows by then-emerging artists like Oasis, Radiohead, Beck, Travis and others).

The members of Glasvegas -- James Allan (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rab Allan (lead guitar, backing vocals), Paul Donoghue (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Caroline McKay (drums) -- spent the earlier part of this year recording the band's self-titled debut album at Brooklyn Recording Studios with production by Glasvegas frontman James Allan and Rich Costey (Interpol, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Mew). The album premieres new recordings of the group's early singles "Daddy's Gone" and "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry," as well as new songs including "Geraldine," the debut single from the album
(Watch video here: http://myplay.com/videos/glasvegas/geraldine?locale=US).

BritRockAtTheTop will be giving away a copy of their debut full length album on vinyl. All you have to do to enter is email Brody at BritRockAtTheTop@live.com Subject Glasvegas, and include your full name and mailing address.
Deadline to enter for the giveaway will be tuesday Oct. 14th at 10pm central time.
